The topic for this week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is ‘Lost in the Details‘. Here are a few photos that resonate with that theme for me. Hope you enjoy them!
Fall leaves – each individually unique and beautiful. I especially liked how the blades of grass poked up between the leaves here – something I didn’t see until I laid down on the grass to take the photo.
Dawn rising over an ice jam at Hay River, NWT… I really liked the angle of the sun and the shadows it created – it was only some time later that I noticed the twig lying on the top of the lonely ice floe in the foreground. Millions of ice floes jammed into the town – it was a very dynamic and violent event. So how did this delicate little twig end up sitting on this stranded ice floe?
I did a field lab with my grad class a few weeks ago and while I was standing by the car waiting for the students to arrive, it started to snow. The flakes were enormous and beautiful, and I couldn’t resist taking a photo of my collar to capture a few that landed there. (I captured a few cat hairs in the photo, as well!)
Here’s a photo I took of a peculiar looking grasshopper perched on my screen door – green, orange and red – I didn’t even know such colourful grasshoppers existed. They always just looked brown to me from a distance.
Not that I’m a big fan of insects (for sure!) but right about now, I would prefer to see grasshoppers than snow and ice – I’m tired of winter!
Have a great week!
